I was delighted to receive a copy of Haunted Halloween House recently, a delightful Halloween tale for small children by Robbie and Michael Cheadle. Having read some of the Sir Chocolate Series by the same authors, I couldn’t wait to read this standalone Halloween story illustrated with some of Robbie’s famous fondant art.
What Robbie Cheadle says about Haunted Halloween Holiday
“I have always wanted to write a story about Halloween for children and include all the cakes and fondant creations I’ve made over the years for that particular holiday. Michael and I threw around some ideas about a diverse family of mythical creatures going on a holiday and attending a Halloween Party with all their friends. From this short discussion, this little book was born.”
What Amazon Says about Haunted Halloween Holiday
Count Sugular is delighted when the Sugarpop Bats invite his family to a Halloween party at the Haunted House. He and his wife, Witch Honey, decide to hire a caravan and enjoy a weekend away with their family. Includes some fun limericks to introduce the various characters.

My Review
5 stars – Delicious Halloween fun for young children
This is a delightful Halloween story for children, suitable for reading aloud or as a beginner’s chapter book. I’ve enjoyed these two authors before, having read some of the Sir Chocolate series. Just like those books, the story is beautifully illustrated with Robbie Cheadle’s amazing fondant art. Here, she’s created Halloween scenes and some wonderful spooky but funny characters.
The story is sweet and just a little bit scary – perfect for the intended age group. Count Sugular takes his wife, Witch Honey, and Baby Howler on a caravan holiday to attend a Halloween party. The authors are very creative, detailing the characters in a funny way that will help inspire and develop the imagination of their young readers. Each character is introduced with a limerick. This is ideal reading for children, especially at Halloween or for laughs at any other time of year. A well-deserved 5 stars.
